The power of small things: From grape stems to sculptural installation (Adults)

Sundays 15 & 22 November, 11:30-14:30
Voress Museum-The power of small things: From grape stems to sculptural installation (Adults)

Sculpture workshop with natural materials for adults (Art Installation)

Can a natural material become a sculpture?

Can an artwork occupy an entire space?

What happens when many small objects come together to create something larger?

Mesogeia, in Eastern Attica, is a region with a distinctive natural and cultural landscape. Vineyards are an integral part of its identity, closely connected to the cycles of nature, land cultivation, grape harvesting and winemaking.

Taking inspiration from the grape harvest, we turn our attention to an element that often goes unnoticed: the grape stem, or rachis, the woody structure of a grape cluster that remains once the grapes have been removed.

This humble by-product of harvesting and winemaking becomes the starting point for an artistic exploration.

We observe its form, branches, lines, connections and organic structure, looking for similarities with elements found in nature, such as branches, roots, leaf veins and intricate networks. What was once considered a leftover material becomes a new medium for artistic expression.

Participants are invited to approach the grape stem not as an object to reproduce, but as a form that can be transformed, repeated, multiplied and expanded into space.

Through this process, the observation of a small natural element leads to the creation of a collective sculptural composition and, ultimately, an art installation.

A seemingly insignificant element of the grape harvest becomes the starting point for an artistic investigation into form, transformation, repetition, collectivity and space.

From grape stems to sculptural forms, from individual forms to compositions, and from compositions to a collective art installation.

The workshop will take place in collaboration with Aoton Winery in Paiania, including a short visit to the winery during the first session.
