Coexistence (Adults)

Sundays 7 & 14 December 2025, 11:30-14:30
Voress Museum-Coexistence (Adults)

Marble-carving workshop (Adults)

The adult workshop Coexistence explores the relationship between people and marble, focusing on ideas of materiality, interaction, and togetherness. It draws inspiration from the multidisciplinary character of the Vorres Museum, where the folk art collection, the natural landscape, and contemporary art form a dynamic dialogue between cultural elements.

The workshop aims to examine the traditional craft of marble sculpture through a contemporary, hands-on lens. Participants will have the opportunity to work with different pieces of marble, attempting to connect them both symbolically and practically, applying carving and polishing techniques. Through theoretical analysis, they will learn about the material’s physical, aesthetic, and historical dimensions, while the practical exercises—drawing from principles of martial arts—highlight the importance of posture, balance, and controlled strength in the sculpting process.

The workshop seeks to bridge tradition with contemporary creation, as well as intangible with tangible cultural heritage, emphasizing the role of materials in shaping cultural identities. At the same time, it deepens the public’s connection to the art of sculpture and opens new pathways for artistic expression by bringing together sculpting, movement, and the body.
