Adventures in a house of another era (Ages 2,5-6)

The Vorres Museum is organizing creative dance workshops for families with children from 2.5 to 6 years old. The theme of the second cycle concerns the Pyrgi and the Museum’s folk art collection.

The creative dance workshop takes place in two groups: the first is addressed to children 2.5–4 years old (nursery and daycare) and the second to children 4.5–6 years old (pre-kindergarten and kindergarten). The presence of one parent or guardian for each child is necessary.

1st session:
Guests at the Pyrgi. Who lives there? A whole family introduces themselves to us. We listen, watch, and copy their steps and movements. Movements that remind us of our own stories, games, stirrings or even stumbles; funny memories, recollections, and images from our recent or more distant past. All these, along with sounds, words, and songs, intertwine and compose a performance that bridges then with now.

2nd session:
Grandmother’s chest. Young and old explorers of the past are called to search the house where the “folk art collection” is kept. Their purpose is to find grandmother’s chest. But what is the chest? First, they will need to shed light on different creations, learn their names, the materials they are made of, wonder about their usefulness… until the chest is found before them! And once it opens, the journey to the island of memories immediately begins.

3rd session:

The handmade carpet. I stand, I sit, I lie down and I dream on the handmade carpet. Spread among the wooden furniture, it knows how to listen to wishes and to whatever our imagination generates. It becomes the ground I push with my hands when I want to see the world upside down; the trampoline that gives momentum to my feet to take off. And when I get tired, my back stretches on it, I settle and roll around. It becomes a soft cloud, so that I may let go, trust, and learn from it.

The workshop will be led by dancer and dance teacher Sania Strimbakou

Dates: Fridays:Fridays, October 31 and November 7, 14, 2025, 17:00–18:00 for ages 2.5–4 and 18:30–19:30 for ages 4.5–6.
Duration of workshop: 60 minutes.

Participation cost: €20 family ticket (1 adult + 1 child) / per session.

Note: Each child–parent/guardian pair may participate in one or more sessions of a thematic unit, or in more than one thematic unit.
