A "museum" of the Mediterranean flora at the foot of Mt. Hymettus!

The natural environment envelops the Vorres Museum. Courtyards enclosed by dry stone walls surround the Pyrgi and have formed a series of hidden gardens, that for the last 50 years, have been hosting an ever growing collection of Mediterranean plants. A museum that “breathes” due to its location and its open spaces, it has adopted the last couple of years a more sustainable approach in the way it maintains and develops its gardens. Under the guidance of botanist Eleftherios Dariotis and in the light of an ever changing climate the planting has been redefined. Extensive use of endemic species, drought tolerant plants adapted to the weather patterns of the area and a new dry part have been added, to make them a paradigm of Mediterranean gardening.
