Three-day event

8,9,10 September 2023, in the framework of the innovative project “EMPACT – Empathy and Sustainability: The Art of Thinking like a Mountain”, co-funded by the EU Creative Europe Program.

In the three-day event, both the theoretical and practical aspects of resilience will be examined and the importance of link creation between art institutions, artists and the corporate world will be looked into. Real examples of creative sustainability and an ecological approach both in creating artworks and in producing and disseminating art projects, will be discussed.

_ Presentation: “Walking and mapping the landscape”

_ Hands on Workshop: “Rema Incognita: Vorres Museum” «Rema Incognita» is an artistic research project on walking and mapping the landscape facilitated by Lea Petrou. The courtyard/garden of the Vorres Museum is the third location to be explored that is recorded and artistically mapped this time in a participatory manner by the Museum’s visitors.

AD and their historical background”

Hands on workshop in two sessions by Giorgos ArgIris, Cast Maker of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture. The participants will cast in two parts an antefix with two molds in plaster. First session: “Modelling the clay: the art of making pottery antefixes”.  It will focus on the historical background of the terracotta antefixes and their role in the Greek Urban Neoclassical Architecture of the last quarter of the 19th cent. AD. The modelling with two-part molds of three types of antefixes will follow.

2nd session of workshop: Cast mounting and final refinement of three types of terracotta antefixes. The participants will complete the assembly process of their own antefix.

Hands on workshop by Dimitris Christogiannis, marble sculptor, Tutor at the Athens School of Fine Arts. “The Art of Sculpting in vivo a Marble Artwork” The participants will use sculpting tools to sculpt their own motif on marble.
